2024 Overview of the Internship
This is a gap year you wont forget and it'll be foundational to things you do in the future. It provides school leavers with a year-long opportunity to deepen their faith, learn about their giftings, gain practical skills and qualifications all while being immersed in our camping community. Who is it for? This programme is designed for young adults aged 18+ who have a servant heart, desire to grow practically, in their relationship with the Lord, and who wish to impact their community. When does it begin? This programme will commence at the beginning 2024 with an agreed upon date by both parties. |
What a year with us might look like
We make it a priority to give the potential intern an opportunity to experience and grow in every area of camp. However, depending on where your giftings lie will also depend on where camp can help develop your skills too. One of the most important areas we want to see our interns grow in is spiritually. MiCamp sets aside time for the Intern to complete online bible studies each week as well as being mentored by key staff members. During the school terms, you will experience working with different staff teams (Ministry, Maintenance, Instructing, Catering, and Housekeeping). It is here that you will dive head first into daily camp life, learning valuable practical skills as well as being an essential part of a team. Every school holidays, you will have the opportunity to serve in our ministry camps (Family Camp, Kids and Teens camps) either as a cabin leader or a support program staff member. For the study competent of the internship we will allocated time each week to learn from Pathways OnDemand and some of the great teachings they have available there and also give you time to work on your Skills Active certificate in Sport, Exercised & Leisure Operations (Level 3) (You can find out more about the Qualification here) In June/July you'll have the opportunity to attend one of the excellent Block Course at EastWest College. And during the year we'll send you on a Workplace First Aid course too. The Intern would be based at the Taupo site and carry out the majority of their work there but would send a bit of time at the Whakamaru site and very occasionally a few days at the Ruapehu site. |
