Taupo Activities

We have many outdoor activities available at MiCamp Taupo to keep your group entertained and challenged while allowing you to enjoy and appreciate the great outdoors. See our activity options below and see what might fit your camp best.

Sample Programs

See below for an example of what an activity program with MiCamp could look like. We are happy to work with you to design a program that reflects the goals and values you are trying to achieve with your group, please contact us.

Instructed Activities

Let the trained MiCamp Instructors guide you through these amazing activities. 1 hour or 1.5 hour sessions available.
A max of 2 instructed activities can be chosen per program or dependant on the availability of instructors. 

Raft Building

In a session, the participants will learn to tie knots, work as a team to plan, build and race their raft!

Challenge Ropes

Challenge your fears on high wires, cargo nets and wobbly bridge walks while being clipped in to our safety system.​​

Kayaking 

Picture
​Kayak on Lake Taupo or cruise up the Tauranga-Taupo River with one of our instructors.

*This is an off-site activity - group must supply own transport for activity

**Term 2&3: Group must provide their own wetsuits

Climbing Wall

A great physical challenge, climbing on our wall will give participants the chance to challenge themselves to reach new heights.

Zipline

Get a hit of adrenalin zipping down our tower; Enjoy the beautiful view of Lake Whakamaru from up high!

Astronomy Education

Bring the awe of space into your MiCamp experience. Choose the presentation that works for your group: 
  • Solar System
  • Space Exploration
  • Matariki 
or a Night Sky Tour/Science Demo​.

Supervisor Led Activities

The MiCamp Staff will train an adult supervisor so that they understand the safety requirements and their role and responsibility for each activity. 
​
In order to ensure the competency of the supervision of the activities we require that the supervisors be assigned to an activity and not rotate with the group.

Archery

Learn the skills required to use a bow to shoot an arrow. Test your aim with others in your group.

Braziers

Picture
Our Braziers can help create amazing community and a highlight of camp. 
​*Fire restrictions will apply in summer.

Bridge Building

In your teams, build a bridge that spans the pool, don't fall in!!

Bubble Soccer

An awesome game of soccer in Zorb balls!

Burma Trail

The burma trail is always a winner. This is a great evening activity or can be done during the day with blindfolds. 

Bushcraft

Learn about survival in the NZ bush! This activity works best with someone passionate about the environment.

Disc Golf ​

With an awesome Frisbee golf course that spans the entire camp site, challenge your mates to a game!

GPS Wayfinding

Using a Garmin GPS the students need to find a "waypoint" marker around camp whilst learning about native trees.

Low Ropes

The low ropes course is a series of activities that need to be completed using teamwork. ​

Mini Golf

Challenge yourself to complete or 9-hole course!

Orienteering

Learn about map reading skills on our easy or hard orienteering courses. Be the group to find all the markers!

Slackline

Practice your balance and tricks on this worldwide craze. Perfect session for beginners.

Sling Paint

Choose to shoot at targets or at each other in our paintball area. All paintballs are shot from slingshots not guns.​

Slug Guns

Picture
People of all ages get a kick out of loading and firing a rifle. The satisfying 'ping' when the slug pellet hits its target!

Swimming Pool

Team Building

A series of small activities that requires teams to work together and think outside the box.

Top Team

A great way to start or finish your camp. A series of small team activities that the whole camp group rotates around. 

Water Slide

Our double water slide is a huge hit for any age range.

Volleyball​

Hire a sports pack including, cricket gear, soccer ball, volley ball and rugby ball. Other items available on request.

Lake Taupo 

Trout Centre

Tongariro National Park

If you wish to explore the Taupo lake and town, it's only a 30min drive north from camp.

This is a great off site activity located only 16 mins south of MiCamp Taupo. See their website for more details.
